thanks to the daily illuminator for pointing me toward this nifty little device!
Writely is basically an online wordprocessor. It stores the documents online so you can get at them whenever, wherever. The really cool thing, though, is that it also allows you to give permission to other people to edit them and it tracks who made what changes and when. This is really great for group presentations because everyone can really collaborate and you dont have to worry about emailing and updating, and different people missing out on updates or whatever, it’s all in one place. I don’t know if there’s other things like this out there, but it really seems like a rather obvious use for the internet. I’m very impressed.
It’s free right now, but they may start charging for it when the beta period is over. Hopefully they decide not to.

They actually had a service like that for D&D sheets. It folded recently. Hopefully this will be more successful, as it’s not playing to such a niche market.
Yeah.. I remember that. Colin wanted us to put our drow in it or something but no one ever did. The roleplaying possibilities for writely are definitely there.. i’m just disheartened by the ‘free .. but only while in beta’ thing (didn’t note that until recently.
Hopefully google will buy it… since this seems the most likely way to keep this service from folding / requiring a fee.
hahaha very true!
